I am a wildlife photographer and I recharge multiple batteries almost every day. While the OEM chargers that come with Canon cameras work fine, they only charge one battery at a time and this charger chargers the batteries faster. This charger not only charges two batteries at the same time, it does so with a digital display showing the percentage of charge left in each battery. I find that handy to avoid re-charging a battery that is already at 85% or 90%. In addition, it has a lid that closes to secure the batteries inside for travel, which I find very functional when I charge the batteries while in my vehicle. Mine came with a protective pouch for travel as well. I tried a few other types of after market chargers before I found this one, but those did not perform as well. I highly recommend this charger.
Wife absolutely LOVES this little gadget! She used to carry two of the single Canon chargers around, now she can use the one little guy, it all tucks into that cute little carrying case, we always have a USB adapter with us, it shows where the percentage is on the charge ... yup, total game changer! The other Canon chargers, you had to have one entire plug in free, this ... you can do on the go as well! And it looks like a camera too ... that's the fun part! It does take time to charge the batteries up to full charge, but doesn't all batteries take time? I do know she's got 8 different batteries for her camera, because you can't pause life to charge your batteries. She uses a battery grip, so it's always 2 to change and charge. I know when she shoots high school basketball or other games, she's always got a spare, usually doesn't have to change but ... :D Well worth the money, happy wife is happy life ... and especially when it comes to her photography, and she knows what works, and does not purchase things that don't work ... this is one of the mainstays in her bag too!
I bought this with the bundle of the power bank paired with it. There's not really a use for this charger without the power bank for me. It does NOT charge without being connected to a power source, which is why I bought the power bank. It will work with any other power bank as long as you have a USB C connection for this charger. That being said, I love having this in my backpack when I'm out shooting. I used to shoot until my battery completely died, but sometimes that would be troublesome. With this, I can wait until I get low and catch a quick break to swap my batteries and throw this one in the charger. It charges my batteries pretty fast as well, which is also so good. I don't ever have to worry about having enough battery power anymore when I'm on a long shoot. I definitely recommend this (and a power bank) to have on hand, if anything, for peace of mind.
I was doing a shoot and had about 20% battery left and one battery completely drained. I did have a power bank on me. Popped in the drained battery and connected it to the powerbank. Quick charge and had over 50% on the second battery. This let me finish the shoot without interuption. Life save in a pinch. It can charge 2 batteries at the same time. Used it with a car charger and worked great.
TL;DR...What this is: A great option to charge 2 batteries at one time before tossing it your bag as extra batteries for long days of shooting... with a screen to show charging progress, and indicate which battery is low or dead after you've made the swap... and will even hold an extra SD card for you! Don't let the people complaining deter you.Sure it would be awesome if it would charge wirelessly too, but then it would cost at least $100 more AND be considerably larger, taking up way more space in a camera bag which is heavy and packed enough already. It's like being upset and not eating your birthday cake because the cake doesn't have the ability to feed itself to you so you can eat hands-free.People are also upset that it didn't come with its own charger. Why? You should have extra chargers... especially since its the SAME CABLE that charges the mirrorless camera they probably have that made them consider this item in the first place! Also, modern laptops, notebooks, Android OS phones and tablets, Apple MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, Kindle, portable chargers (which could easily charge this, and your phone or tablet on the go), the Nintendo Switch, Xbox controllers, Playstation controllers, headphones, earbuds, portable speakers, microphones, mouse and keyboard combos, docking stations, desktop monitors, Echo, HomePod, Nest, Roku remotes, smart glasses and pretty much every other up-to-date piece of tech... EVEN household items such as power scrubbers, food thermometers, human thermometers, electric carving knives, indoor security cameras, personal grooming items like hair clippers, rechargeable tools, handheld vacuums RGB lights, can openers, food scales, kids toys, hearing aids, massager guns, heating pads, portable fans, portable hand warmers, flashlights and the list goes on. You mean to tell me you can't find a USB-C cable to spare? LolMy point is, before I bought this item, I would have to carry extra batteries that don't have a dual case so they float all around my bag and I couldn't tell which was dead or charged and wasted valuable seconds missing shots if I guessed wrong, the SINGLE battery charger (which has to be plugged into a wall anyway... so you're better of charging two at a time with this), OR a cable to charge the battery inside of the camera... meaning I couldn't also use the camera. This is a brilliant product. I love it! 10/10 recommend!
